EPL: Young Players to Watch in 2021/22 Season – The Game Haus

Every Premier League season is full of young players making their first impressions on their club and league. Young players in the Premier League are beyond mature for their age and adapt to the game exceptionally. Even with world class players on every club in England, young players are unbothered and show their brilliance through this adversity. TGH highlights five young players who could make big impacts this season.

Bryan Gil

Gil arrives from Sevilla FC in exchange for Erik Lamela and around $29.4 million. The young Spainaird is somewhat of a throwback in terms of today’s players. He is a pure dribbler with strength which makes him tough in one-on-ones. He uses his light body well in his quickness and coordination on the ball. Gil hopes to make an immediate impact at Tottenham and progress into a world class soccer player.

Billy Gilmour

Gilmour signed a season-long loan to Norwich City on July 2 in hopes of consistent first-team football. Norwich boss Daniel Farke referred to the Scottish international as a “perfect fit” so it should be a good signing for both sides. Gilmour impressed for Scotland at EURO 2020, especially against England. He is good with the ball and can pick any pass on the field. Gilmour has a low center of gravity which makes it easy to change direction in tight spaces. Expect a breakout season if all goes well in Norwich.

Michael Olise

Michael Olise is Patrick Viera’s first signing as the new manager of Crystal Palace. The 19-year-old was massive for Reading last season scoring seven goals and setting up 12 in 46 matches. This won him EFL Young Player of the Season and a move to the Premier League. He has great pace and remarkable inventiveness in attacking positions. His skill and precise passing should make him a star to-be in the Premier League.

Patson Daka

Leicester shelled out around 23 million euros for the man from RB Salzburg in June and it looks like it will be worth every penny. Daka scored 34 goals and 12 assists in 42 matches to win the Austrian Bundesliga Player of the Season. His explosiveness is a huge advantage in being able to generate space between him and his defender. His physicality will also be an advantage to his game. Expect Leicester to only improve with Daka in the side.

Kristoffer Ajer

Brentford broke their transfer record when they acquired Kristoffer Ajer from Celtic for 13.5 million pounds. Ajer has been one of Celtic’s best young players since landing in Scotland as a teenager. His positioning is top class and is constantly monitoring his surroundings to be a step ahead. He is only 23 and will be the primary piece in Brentford’s defense, but he embodies the modern defender perfectly. He excels at passing and playing out the back which is huge in today’s Premier League.
