With a while to go before transfer opportunities end, Leicester City have been credited with the second best window in the Premier League.

Leicester have most definitely plugged some of the gaps and remedied most of the deficiencies in their squad with the signings of Patson Daka and Ryan Bertrand. Central midfield – Wilfred Ndidi and Youri Tielemans – needed a top quality rival for places, and Boubakary Soumare may just supply that.

If – and this is still a significant if, unfortunately – the Foxes finally make that Riyad Mahrez-esque purchase for the right-wing – the the starting XI appears to be Champions League standard, at least. A final stop during this off-season would be to locate and secure an experienced, skilled, yet reasonably priced back-up centre-back. A loan would suffice there.

And Foxes of Leicester’s impression of LCFC’s transfer window is supported by ESPN, the American outlet which concentrates on sport. They credit the King Power club with the second best recruitment period in the EPL this year. In addition to labeling the east Midlands team’s signings as the third most impressive in Europe.

That assessment also takes into account sales. Manchester United of the same league, along with Paris Saint-Germain were above Leicester on the list.

How Leicester City players will be put through their paces at pre-season training

Before the Foxes embark on the upcoming  term in four separate competitions, their fitness must be tested and improved over the summer. Then three penciled in friendly matches – there will be a couple more arranged, FoL believe – shall sharpen up game skills prior to the competitive season.

The 2021/22 campaign begins for Leicester on August 7 with a Charity Shield clash against EPL champions Manchester City; LCFC participate in the tradition as 2020/21 FA Cup winners. Wolverhampton Wanderers are the initial opponents in the English top-flight on the 14th of the same month.
