The Daily Bee: Erling Haaland Named UEFA Forward of the Season – Fear The Wall

Good morning, everyone! Happy Friday.

Erling Haaland Named UEFA Player of the Season

The Champions League draw took place yesterday. As the clocks struck 18:00 CET, football fans around the world gathered around their TV screens in anticipation, waiting anxiously to see which galactic clubs would be pitted against each other. Unfortunately, as always, UEFA chose to drag out the experience as much as possible by taking the time between each pot to award UEFA’s awards for the 2020-21 season.

UEFA started the proceedings with an admittedly pleasant gesture, handing the President’s award to the medical staff that treated Christian Eriksen when he experienced cardiac arrest at the EUROs this summer. It was sincerely touching, but it also made the football awards that followed a little hollow.

When it came time to award the honors of “forward of the season”, I was surprised to see that it was none other than Borussia Dortmund’s own Erling Haaland who was recognized. Despite my initial surprise, in hindsight the award does make sense. Haaland led the entire competition in goals scored with 10, despite BVB being eliminated in the quarterfinal. Only Kylian Mbappé was even close, with 8 goals. Nobody else scored more than 6!

It just goes to show you how special a player Erling Haaland is. Hopefully he can score even more goals this season!

BVB Interested in Diogo Dalot?

According to Sky Sports, Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Manchester United right back Diogo Dalot.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t know much about Dalot. He was on loan with AC Milan last season and played about 2000 minutes total, of which almost 800 were in the Europa League, where he seemed to fare pretty well. The transfer could also be a loan instead of an outright purchase. If BVB are looking to avoid a large fee, then signing Dalot could be a good bit of business.
